Mrs. Marzan’s 2nd grade class had a wonderful surprise this week when Remi’s grandpa, Tom Holmoe, stopped by for a special storytime! Mr. Holmoe, who worked at Brigham Young University (BYU), delighted students with a festive Halloween story and an inspiring BYU tale about Cosmo the Cougar. The students loved hearing his stories, asking questions, and sharing what they were going to be for Halloween. Thank you, Mr. Holmoe, for making reading time extra special — and for reminding us that great stories can bring everyone together!

Here’s what his teacher shared:
"Logan is an amazing example of kindness in our classroom! He is always looking for ways that he can lend a helping hand. He is often found helping another student clean their desk at the end of each day or going the extra mile picking up small scraps off the floor. Logan leads with kindness in everything he does and says. Keep up the good work!"

This month, Foothills Falcons learned what it means to be a supportive friend!

Each grade explored friendship in their own unique way:

Kindergarten students learned that people can have more than one friend.
First grade read Splat the Cat and discussed how to be supportive.
Second graders discovered that supportive friends show empathy.
Third grade added ingredients to make “Friendship Soup.”
Fourth grade played Heads Up Seven Up to recognize positive friend traits.
Fifth grade had a contest to brainstorm adjectives that describe a good friend; the winners even got to use Mrs. Brindley’s Skittle machine!

Our Falcons are learning that being a supportive friend means showing empathy, kindness, and encouragement. And today, we honored our October Falcons of the Month; students who consistently show what it means to be a true friend! 🦅
