We were super excited to welcome Kimball Thorpe (pre-med Student Amabassador) from the USU-E Nursing Program today to the ALC! Mrs. Hartvigson's students learned so much about their awesome campus opportunities.
Some of the information Kimball shared was:
Campus tours
Connect with professors
Certifications are a great way to prepare for future employment
USU-E Applications are received in spring for following fall
Most credits will transfer from other institutions (talk with admissions office to verify)
Take some chemistry courses if looking at nursing career (before anatomy and physiology)
Prerequisites must be completed before applying to medical school
Only 1500 students
17 to 1 student to professor ratio (smaller class size)
Fewer students vying for same opportunities
Professors are connected to the community
Less expensive than other Utah institutions, e.g., housing, tuition, etc.
Small knit community - able to make connections and facilitate networking opportunities
A lot of amazing outdoor opportunities
Also, some great advice to be sure to go on a tour of whichever university(s) you are considering! Thanks so much for coming, Kimball!!!
